ABOUT THE ARTWORK:
The hummingbird symbolises joy, resilience, and lightness of being. With an ability to hover in any direction to feed on its favourite flowers, the hummingbird reminds us to savour life’s sweetness, embrace beauty in the small moments, and adapt gracefully to challenges from any direction. Its long migrations spanning thousands of kilometres teach persistence in the face of difficulty, while its presence encourages optimism, playfulness, and connection. Those aligned with the hummingbird spirit are guided toward love, harmony, and gratitude.
Australian artist Carlie Edwards creates nature-inspired artwork that captures the magnificence of our world’s flora and fauna. Growing up in the coastal town of Byron Bay, Carlie’s artistic process reflects the colours and natural beauty of the region. Each piece begins with watercolours, building a foundation of marbled colours and textures, before carefully adding intricate details using coloured pencils. This layered approach brings the animals to life, with every feather, strand of fur, flower and leaf meticulously hand drawn. Some artworks can take upwards of 50 hours to complete, with a dedication to creating works that resonate with depth, emotion and handcrafted love.
